We’re happy to say that we have finalised the course for the Mitas Six66 Saturday and Sunday sessions.
Both laps use the same transition, from timing you will be heading up Wattle Happen to Homeview Junction, on the return leg you’ll cross over the top of Homeview Junction and head down Old Duffy, around the 4X track to and left into transition.
The Saturday lap heads up to Homeview and then descends Remnants to the beginning of the climbs. Remnants is currently not much fun, but the crew from Makin’ Trax will be giving it some love in the coming weeks to turn it into a much more pleasant trail. From the back of the 4X track you’ll enter the Cockatoo Switchbacks and up to Echidna Gap to the top of Stromlo. In amongst the fun of the Western Wedgetail, Skyline and Luge, you’ll be able to enjoy those spectacular views out across Canberra, especially as the evening sets in! Last rider heads out at 8pm, so you will need you lights from 6:30pm!
From 8am Sunday we will be keeping it low on the northern side of Stromlo. From Homeview you’ll spend a short time on the firetrail before dropping in to Slant Six and on to Willow Link, before a bunch of fun of Double Dissolution, a firetrail climb back to the top of Party Line, Dingos, White Gums, Breakout, Muck Raker and home to transition.
Saturday will be a homage to the old ‘Red Lap’ of Scott’s past, all that elevation will give fantastic views out across Canberra!
On Sunday we’ll take it a bit easier and enjoy ourselves with a ride or three of Double Dissolution and Party Line. The fire road between the two comes at a very convenient place to have a quick feed or grab a drink!
Transition will be located at the top of the Stromlo Car Park. The main carpark will remain open for use throughout the event, Solo riders will have an area along the straight to transition, with teams transitioning on the corner closest to the car park.
